Jadea Knight is a director and multidisciplinary artist exploring identity, transformation, and connection through film, photography, and curated spaces. Rooted in personal memory, communal narratives, and the lived experiences of Black women, her work examines self-discovery and change—capturing quiet, transformative moments that speak to both individual and collective experience. Believing in storytelling’s power to inspire and preserve, she creates visual narratives that resonate on a deeply human level.
Her solo exhibition, To A Familiar Stranger (2024), reflects her distinctive narrative style, delving into themes of identity and personal evolution. As part of the project, Knight published A Letter to a Familiar Stranger—a visual companion to the film and exhibition—featuring photography and personal stories that expand on the work’s core themes.
She has exhibited in group shows including Echoes of Us (2025) at The Branch Museum of Design in Richmond, VA; Home(2025) at Second Street Gallery in Charlottesville, VA; The CAN Summit (2024) at the CAN Foundation Artist in Residence Studios; and A Look Within (2023) at the Visual Arts & Design Center of Tidewater Community College. Her film was recently accepted into the Virginia Black Film Festival (2025) and previously screened at the Afrikana Film Festival(2023). Additionally, Knight’s creative direction was featured in the Blkrunway Fashion Show (2023, 2024), a collaboration with the Institute for Contemporary Art (ICA) in Richmond, Virginia.
Beyond exhibitions and screenings, Knight has engaged with the arts community as a Studio Artist at the CAN Artist Studios in Newport News, VA (2024, 2025). She also delivered the artist talk Conversations in Art: A Journey from Self to Community (2024) as part of her solo exhibition, deepening her commitment to storytelling and community engagement through her practice.
