Jadea Knight (b.1997) is an artist based in Brooklyn, NY.
Her debut solo exhibition, To A Familiar Stranger (2024), was presented at the CAN Foundation Artist in Residence Studios in Newport News, VA. She has participated in numerous group exhibitions, including Where We Meet (2025) at the Virginia Museum of Contemporary Art, Echoes of Us (2025) at The Branch Museum of Design in Richmond, and Home (2025) at Second Street Gallery in Charlottesville. Additional exhibitions include The Portrait: Histories, Myths, and Allegories (2024) at Matney Gallery, Made in Newport News (2023) at CAN Foundation Offsite Gallery, and Cantemporaries Exhibition & Auction (2023) at Assembly, Norfolk.
Her film work has been recognized nationally, with To A Familiar Stranger (2025) accepted into the Virginia Black Film Festival and previously screened at the Afrikana Film Festival (2023). Knight has also been featured in screenings and programs such as Textile Shorts at Millennium Film Workshop (2025), Audacity Art Alliance at the August Wilson Cultural Center (2025), and Curate on WHRO Public Media (2025).
In addition to her exhibitions and screenings, Knight self-published A Letter to a Familiar Stranger (2024), a visual companion to her film and exhibition. She has twice served as a Studio Artist at the CAN Foundation (2024, 2025) and participated in the NYFA Artist as Entrepreneur Program at Powerhouse Arts, Brooklyn (2025). Her work has received recognition through grants and awards, including the Continued Work Grant (2024), the Award of Excellence at the Port Warwick Art & Sculpture Festival (2024), and the Made in Newport News Grant (2023).
